Sleepover

Last weekend we had the boys sleep-over while Bruce and Alida went camping with some friends. Everyone had a great time, the kids LOVE hanging out, there is the odd scrap but they are all best friends and Coleman more and more everyday is joining in the chaos.
The kids loved their Freezes, I mean who doesn't !?!?!

Is that a happy kid or what!
All the kids had a great time being wild and tiring Chris and I out!
Connor started the night on the floor in a bed but when I went in to check on them, this is how they were sleeping. I think they finally gave in around 10:00pm, not too bad.
The weather was so great we just had to get Slurpee's the next day after the park. It was just a big treat kind of weekend! After this we hit the outdoor pool.

This was all the kids dancing before bed, we were trying to tire them out before we watched a movie. It didn't really work. I love listening to Coleman laugh through the whole thing.

Santa Rosa July 9-19 2009

We just got back from a fantastic 10 day trip to California. Forgive all the photos, I just have such a hard time narrowing them down and with 11 people on the trip, I want to include photos of everyone. We had a great time, we fly into San Fransisco and stayed at a really nice hotel on Nob Hill for 2 days. We rode the cable cars, went to the wharf, had dinner in Chinatown, shopped in Union square, saw Golden Gate park, postcard row, the waterfront and lots of the city. I love SF, it is really nice there.
Our first day in San Fran. Walking down to Union Square.

Louis Vuitton or a light-saber store???
The view from the Cheesecake factory in Macy's. It is huge store, about 7 floors.
Paige and Elyse at Union Square.
Elyse and Paige outside of our hotel. With the tallest pyramid structure in the world in the background (or so we were told).
After dinner at the House of Nanking in China town. It was an experience, but the food was really good. The girls loved the little cardboard take-out boxes.
The hills in San Fran are crazy with a stroller, if you had to walk those everyday you'd be super skinny in no time!!
Down at Fisherman's wharf. Alcatraz is in the background. It was chilly down by the water.
Elyse discovered that she loves shrimp. We had lunch at Bubba Gump's, it was delicious!!!

Mommy and Paige at the Pier. The views were amazing there. The kids loved the sea lions, the merry-go-round and all the boats and water.
Laura and Chris with the bay bridge in the background. We went to the embarcadaro for a farmers market.
YEAH! We are here. Our first day in Santa Rosa. We are so fortunate to all be able to come together. The kids love to have their best friends/cousin to play with all day. We had a great 2 bedroom "apartment" at the hotel so we could put the kids down every night and hang out. I saw 4 movies while we were there, that is my idea of a good vacation!!
Santa Rosa is where Charles Schultz lived, the creator of Snoopy and Charlie Brown, so there are status everywhere. This was at the mall.
" Grandpa is that you ???". This is the reason we all went down. My Dad plays in a hockey tournament down there every year for about the past 30 years. We used to go down with my parents when we were kids so it is really neat to see the next generation enjoying it as well. I have so many good memories from then and now!
Elyse and Connor with a dapper looking Snoopy.
Mom and I in the parking lot after the game, the guys need to sit around and re-hash the game. I am showing of my new $0.38 Snoopy ring - okay it is really Elyse's.
Mom and Dad at Howarth Park. It is an amazing, huge park in Santa Rosa. There is a lake, pony rides, splash park, train ride, petting zoo, carousel and climbing walls. It is really great. It was soooo hot this day though, that we didn't last for too long. We were so lucky, the weather was perfect and HOT everyday!
Paige at the park.
The girls LOVED their pony rides.
Elyse is a real horse lover. Look at that red face. I think it was about 40 degrees that day.
Cooling down with Snow-cones!
All that heat and playing is tiring!!
Elyse with Grandpa. We saw 2 of the 3 games and really enjoyed going. Their team won the silver medal. We had a really time on this trip. We went to the pool everyday and shopped and saw all the sights Santa Rosa had to offer. I think an amazing time was had by all!!

Our Beach Day -- Goat Rock Beach

The Beach is about a 40 min drive from Santa Rosa. As you can tell from the pictures, it was a bit chilly but we had a great time regardless. This place was really cool, there were seals all around in the water, you could see them jump and swim. Despite the gloomy looking weather, this was one of our favorite days, everyone was happy and playful and we really had a great day, we stopped on the way home for some local seafood to finish out the day.
Group picture minus Dad, he opted for a round of golf this day.

Chris and Elyse. Do these two look alike or what!?!??!

Paige and mommy on the beach, Uncle Bruce looking for cool shells in the background.
All the kids at the beach.
Elyse looks like such a California girl, with her flowing blond hair and blue eyes, hanging out at the beach
Hand-stand competition.... you be the judge....
I think we had just as much fun playing at the beach as the kids did.
Ta-da!!
I think we were in cheerleader mode with all the pyramids and gymnastics.
Don't you just love these tender moments??? I love that Paige is on her tippy-toes.
Uncle Bruce loves to find all critters on the beach, he found the kids some starfish and hermit crabs and lots of cool shells and rocks.

More Santa Rosa Fun

I know I have a problem with how many pictures I take, I just can't help myself!! Uncle Dave is so great to all the kids. He is a big kid himself so that helps :) He loved to play with the kids and spoil them with treats.

Elyse with her "Snoopy" water at the tournament BBQ.
Family pictures with our Calgary Old Buffalo's shirts on. We were there to support the team!!
The siblings and spouses.

Laura, Mom and Alida

The Boys! Bruce, Dad, Chris and Dave.
We were very lucky to get a day away from the kids and tour some wineries in the Sonoma area. It is BEAUTIFUL there!
In our exploring, we stumbled upon Lake Sonoma, it was huge and really pretty.
Chris showing more of his athletic ability, he really isn't 12, I swear :)!!
Now is that a happy kid or what??!!?? All the kids LOVED the pool, it was the favorite activity of the trip.
Chris loves to toss the kids around.
Now it's Paige's turn.
This, much to my kids chagrin (as you can tell by the thumbs down), was one of my favorite things to do on the trip. We shopped a lot and got some good buys. My fav. was the Banana Republic outlet, the deals were amazing!!!
Our last day, getting ready to head to the airport. We had such an amazing time!!!
We thought that we would stop at the Golden Gate bridge overlook on our way back into San Fran. That fog is amazing, do you see the bridge??? It was so foggy and the wind was really cold, San Fran is beautiful but it really is chilly there.
